02 — Ventilation & containment
Laboratory fume hoods
Enclosed, ventilated workspaces that draw fumes, vapours and dust away from the user and out of the laboratory.

Overview
The primary protection at the bench
A fume hood is the main protection for anyone working with volatile, toxic or odorous substances. Air is drawn in through the front opening, across the work surface and out through the exhaust, carrying contaminants away from the user's breathing zone.
The sliding sash acts as a physical shield and controls the size of the opening. Baffles at the back of the hood help draw air evenly across the work surface.
Niya Labs supplies fume hoods as part of laboratory setups, together with the exhaust components, service taps and furniture around them, so the hood, ducting and bench layout are planned as one system.
Key features
Built for safe, comfortable work
Controlled airflow
Air is drawn through the front opening and across the work surface to the exhaust.
Sliding sash
A transparent sash protects the user and adjusts the working opening.
Service taps
Fume hood taps for water and gases, mounted where the user can reach them.
Exhaust components
PP centrifugal blowers, PP duct dampers and volume control dampers for the exhaust line.
Base cabinets
Storage below the work surface, planned with the rest of the furniture.
Part of the layout
Positioned with benches, sinks and safety showers for a safe workflow.

A fume hood continuously draws air in through its front opening and exhausts it away from the laboratory. Contaminants released inside the hood are carried away with that air instead of reaching the user, and the sash adds a physical barrier.
A fume hood protects the user from chemical fumes by exhausting air. A biological safety cabinet uses HEPA-filtered airflow to protect the user, and depending on its class the sample and the environment, from biological agents. They are not interchangeable.
Yes. Along with fume hoods and fume hood taps, we supply PP centrifugal blowers, PP duct dampers and volume control dampers. Share your building details and we will discuss the exhaust route.
